It was the first capital of Islaam, it embraces the Prophet’s Mosque and contains the final resting place ,óf the most Beloved of all time, the Prophet Muhammed (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam)

The Prophet (Sallal Laahu ‘Alaiehi Wa Sallam) himself participated in the construction of this mosque, possessively calling it "his mosque" and led prayers in it for years. It was a city which loved the Prophet and which he in turn loved.  He has also said that a salah (prayer) performed in this Mosque is better than a thousand salahs in any other place except Masjid al-Haram in Makkah.
